Dana Littlejohn

Welcome Dana! Thank you for taking this time to give us an interview.

I’m always available to speak to those who want to listen to me. LOL

Can you tell us a bit about who you are, and where you’re from?

Sure. Like most women I wear many hats at once: wife, mother, sister, and auntie. I am teacher to all that come through my door and aspiring author. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and I moved to Indianapolis, In. in 1994 where I still live.

What got you started in writing?

I can’t remember not writing. I used to doodle short stories in elementary school and wrote poetry and my first short story when I was in junior high school.

When you are not writing what do you do for fun?

I like to read, dance, play pool (billiards) and crochet.

Is there anyone in your life that supported you or inspired you to write?

I put my pen down years ago for what I thought was the greater good. I found out later in my life when I “really grew up” that I was doing myself and those who loved me a disservice by not following my heart. So, with encouragement from my husband I started writing again in 2003 and have no plans of stopping.

What does your family think about your choosing erotic romance as your genre?

I think the opinions are generational based. My mother, in-laws and those from that generation have chosen not to read my stuff. They are happy I am doing what makes me happy, but they think that kind of thing belongs behind closed doors. My children are old enough to read my stuff and they think it’s cool accept my oldest son. He just thinks it’s gross when his friends sit around discussing my book. LOL

How would you describe erotic romance? Some look at erotic romance as being porn. Can you tell us your opinion on this?

My definition of erotic romance is a romantic story where two people meet and fall in love and live happily ever after (or happy for now)after going through some kind conflict to get there. In a romantic story the chase is shown in detail, the conflict and the romance. In an erotic romance the sex is shown in detail as well. Sex is just another expression of the love shared between the characters.

You have written three books that are entitled The Dioni Chronicles. Do you plan on adding more to this collection?

I don’t know. At first I thought it was complete, but I have been putting together another vampire story and he seems to fit the Dioni template.

Can you tell us what the Dioni Chronicles are about?

The vampires and werewolves had been at war for so long that neither had any women left and were at the brink of extinction. The current leaders made a truce so they could rebuild their numbers. Nikolas Dioni was the leader of the last vampire clan and started to reward his people he allowed him to take wives, but they had to turn to the human race. They were free to pick their own mates as long as they adhere to the rules of the clan.

When you write your books do you have a message that you want to send?

Not always, but when I do the message is “love is blind”.

If there was one thing in life that you could go back and change, what would it be?

The death of my brother.

What advice would you give to new writers out there?

Read the genre that you are going to write. Enjoy what you read, find your voice and build on it.

What are your plans for 2008?

I have spent a lot of time writing several stories at the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 so that I can take some time off of writing by the fall of 2008 to concentrate on school. I have several stories coming out under my real name and a pseudo.

Do you have anything else you would like to share with your reader’s?

Keep your eye on my sites, I’m sure I’ll have something that will peak your interest.

Dana, I want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to give us this interview.

No problem, this was fun. Let me know when you want to do it again! LOL
